BEIL0014 Assignment 2 (the Ferrari)

My group members:
(Jiayu Li, Qian Sha, Qiutong Zhang, Ruilin Qin, Zhenlei Yu and Shanshan Zhang)

Step One:
Download the 123d and using the 123d to create the Ferrari shapes.
Opening the file by illustrator and changing the color of line to 0.001 red.
Choosing the 3 mm MDF boards and using the laser cutting machine to cut the shapes and assemble it.




Step Two:
Choosing the appropriate thickness of aluminum due to the curvature of the shape.
Dividing the car into several parts (the front face, the back face, right front above wheel, left front above wheel, right back above wheel, left back above wheel, top cover and the hood)
Measuring the length of the Ferrari shape by tracing paper and drawing an appropriate shape on the metal sheet.
Cutting the rough outline of the aluminum skin and cleaning the edge that preventing ourselves when holding the metal sheet.



Step Three:
Using the masking tape and tracing paper to wrap and cover the model in order to get the fluent shape and prevent it.




Step Four:
My part is the two back above wheel.
Using the mark pen to draw out the reference lines for bending and using different hammers and base to adjust the metal skin in order to cover and fit the Ferrari shape, the different bases have different curvature.
The most important part is to keep the position of the metal shape and the MDF bone under it not change, using the hammer to hit around the metal sheet round and round.




Step Five:
Using the English wheel to get rid of some of the surface blemishes and this process is effective in smoothing out the major irregularities in the skin.
Cleaning the aluminum skin.
